RUN'10 - LATEST FUNDRAISING TOTAL £2,121.87


Great News: We have today passed our fundraising target (with contributions still to come in from Sainsbury's & Aiming 4 Changes) - WELL DONE TEAM LOWDOWN :-)

With £2,121.87 in so far & Sainsbury's doubling-up donations, Team Lowdown's official final Run'10 fundraising figure will follow late November...

Thank you to everyone who ran & donated. "Keep on running" as 2011's event will be here before you know it and we'll be competing for Team Prizes next year... Ain't no stopping us now, we're on the move!!!

URGENT: SAINSBURY'S UPDATE + BOOT CAMP !!!

Urgent Amendment: Sainsbury's (Weedon Road) WILL now be matching 'pound for pound' all money raised by ALL Team Lowdown runners & walkers BUT you must get your money paid on JustGiving or deliver cash or cheque to The Lowdown by Friday 22nd October - don't delay - get collecting today! Breaking News: Physical PT's "BOOT CAMP" is back!!! Starting this Sunday (17/10) at 11am on 'The Hill' in Abington Park. The first 'taster' session is FREE & subsequent sessions are very reasonably priced - Contact Anthony on (07878) 696894 for details...

SPONSORSHIP MONIES & POST-RUN '10 UPDATE


Well done everyone - we had an amazing Team Lowdown performance & attendance on the day (half of our team are pictured above). You all did brilliantly & now the focus is on getting all sponsorship monies in before 31/10/10. Once collected, you can either send direct to The Lowdown or place a bulk donation (remembering to select Gift Aid) on the Team Lowdown JustGiving Page > HERE... We have approached The Run'10 organisers & asked them to consider us as one of their Partner Charities (which would gain us extra publicity & runners in 2011) & we hope to have this confirmed during November 2010. Here are a few comments we've received from them so far:

"A massive well done to all your team for your achievements on the day. It was inspiring to see how much effort you've all put into both raising the team & training and preparation. It's a blueprint for how any organisation, charity or group could use the event to both challenge themselves, raise their profile and raise some cash at the same time... As far as we're concerned the other charities could learn a lot from what you done and we will certainly be putting a strong case forward to have you onboard as a partner charity next year. TEAM LOWDOWN @ THE RUN'10 - THE FINAL UPDATE

Hi Everyone!

Here is the absolute final update before Sunday's big event. If anyone has any last minute questions please contact Richard on (07727) 648779 after 1pm (Sat) - Thanks!

SAINSBURY'S SUPPORT: Sainsbury's (Weedon Road) will be MATCHING POUND FOR POUND all monies collectively raised by Team Lowdown... eg. If you raise £50, they will match that with another £50 = £100 total - Thank You Sainsbury's !!!

RUN PACKS: All should have now received. If you have NOT received by Saturday midday, then we recommend you collect a new race pack from Sixfields on Saturday between 3pm - 5pm. If you're unable get to Sixfields on Saturday, then it's possible to collect a replacement race pack on Sunday from the Enquiries tent - but please expect long delays on race morning.

WEATHER & CLOTHING: Forecast 15˚C with slight chance of light rain - hopefully will hold off until 1230… Organizers suggest people wear old t-shirts whilst waiting to start then discard these at start line (they will clear them up). Alternatively we will have The Lowdown van close by so jackets could be left there? There is also bag storage & changing/wash facilities at Sixfields Stadium. We would love to have The Lowdown shirts visible as you are running so worth considering a long sleeve t-shirt beneath?

WARM-UP, GROUP PHOTOS & T-SHIRTS: We hope as many people as possible will join the warm-up with Coach Anthony at Sainsbury's (Weedon Rd) 8.45am prompt. FREE Parking is available at Sainsbury's for Team Lowdown & Matt will have cards to display on dashboards. When you enter the car park, head straight to the bottom and try and park in the lanes along the wall or opposite that if possible. T-Shirts will be available here & also at The Lowdown stand in the Community Marquee (near Start line). Sainsbury's will provide water & a cereal/energy bar to our participants.

RUNNING TAGS: The tags that 5k & 10k runners & walkers fix to their shoes MUST be put in the designated collection bins afterwards or you may be asked to pay for these by the run organizers.

AFTER EVENT: We have an area reserved for Team Lowdown + friends/family inside The Hungry Horse @ Sixfields for 40+ people from 12.30-4pm - please pop along for a bite to eat & drink after if you can (own expense)… they even do Sunday Lunch 2 for £10/£12 deals !!!

FUNDRAISING & SPONSORSHIP: We know that it can be difficult to ask for sponsorship but we hope to raise at least £2,100 (to celebrate The Lowdown's 21st Anniversary) so any final efforts you can make over the next 48hours could make a huge difference. If you get a chance to let Dawn or Kim in the Community Marquee know how much you've raised / had pledged it would be greatly appreciated so we can announce an approximate figure on the day.

TEAM LOWDOWN @ THE RUN'10 - IMPORTANT UPDATE - PLEASE READ THANKS!

Hi Everyone!

Firstly - Thank You! We have been really blown-away by the support & positive response to both 'The Lowdown 21 Campaign' & this, the last big fundraising event in The Lowdown's 21st Anniversary calendar...

Secondly - We would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who has supported & came along to the run training sessions - I think you'll agree they have been a great team/social activity & surprisingly good fun!

& finally - 'Team Lowdown' would not have become "a force to be reckoned with" without the involvement of Chris & Jackie at Northamptonshire Sport (Promotional Support), Mick at Watermelon (T-Shirts) & Anthony Mann from PhysicalPT (Fun & Fitness) - you've all been truly amazing!


Anthony's motivation, dedication, belief & good humour in particular has given the event a real buzz & feelgood factor - on behalf of everyone at The Lowdown we'd like to say a huge "THANK YOU" !!!

REGISTER
We've had over 45 people sign up to run/walk in support of The Lowdown! If you know anyone who would like to enter there are still a few days left. They can now register via the Run Website ONLY. Fees range from £12 - £17. No more registrations via The Lowdown.

RUN PACK
The Official Run Packs should be with participants shortly. They contain race number & time tag plus route maps and key info. If yours hasn't arrived by Friday 24/09 contact Richard (07727) 648779.

TRAINING
Final few training sessions to go (sobs!). Meet 11am @ Abington Park (Sun 19 & 26/09) and 6pm @ The Racecourse (Wed 22 & 29/09). Courtesy of Anthony from PhysicalPT - you can expect running, a little pain and plenty of good humour - join us if you can!

TEAM LOWDOWN t-shirts are FREE and to be worn by our Run '10 participants. Available in all sizes, collect yours from The Lowdown, Training (22,26,29/09) or Sainsbury's (Weedon Rd) at 8.40 on 03/10.

PARKING
All our participants are allowed to park FREE at Sainsbury's ( Weedon Rd ) whilst taking part in the Run'10 & related activities. Please put a note on your dashboard stating "Lowdown / Run 10" and aim to be get there for 8.30 approx if joining us for the warm-up.

WARM-UP
We hope all our entrants will join us for a fun 10-minute warm-up workout with Anthony outside Sainsbury's 8.45am followed by some group photos! If you're running late, please meet us at 9.15am by the Timings plasma display (near Finish Line) at Sixfields Stadium.

SCHEDULE
Run Schedule: 5K start (9.30am) 10K start (9.45am) Presentation Ceremony (11.30am) 2K Kids start (11.45am) 1K Kids start (Midday). As we've entrants in all distances, please try & stay to lend support.

ACTIVITIES
Sixfields: A Taste of Northamptonshire (Local Produce) & Various Exhibitors. Market Square & Along Route: Music, Performances & Dance Workshops.
After Event: All Team Lowdown participants and friends/family are invited to join us at the Sixfields/Hungry Horse for a celebratory get-together from 12.30 - 4pm - join us if you can!

SUPPORT
We are looking for volunteers to be present at key points for a few hours - to shake buckets, hand out balloons & maximize The Lowdown's visibility at Sixfields (9 - 12.30) / Train Station (9.15 - 10.45) / All Saint's (9.45 - 11.15). If you or your friends can assist, please contact Matt or Kathy (01604) 634385 - any help appreciated.

9 TRAINING SESSIONS TO GO... ARE YOU READY?

On 22nd August 2010 @ Midday, you are invited to our Free and Fun Fitness Workout @ Becket's Park / Midsummer Meadow followed by a BBQ and Chillout in The Lowdown's garden... Join the party!


Our "Summer Sunday" get-together is a 100% Free Introduction to The Lowdown's Summer Fitness Sessions (courtesy of PhysicalPT) - in preparation for The Run'10 Northampton 03/10/10. So if you're looking for a good reason to get this summer and would be willing to support a worthwhile cause in the process... this could be it!

We are pleased to announce Anthony Mann - qualified personal trainer from PhysicalPT will be on hand at all of these training sessions to help give you guidance & motivation if needed - all goals & levels of fitness catered for - so you've no excuses!

21 Bands (in a day) @ The Roadmender 18/07/10

this day will offer 21 Bands..... plus DJ's, Stalls and more!
All 21 bands have now been confirmed:
County Youth Big Band / The Bone Sparrow / Cat Ballou / Billy Lockett / Celeriac / Chasetown / Common Hours / The Clap / Eject Pilot Eject / Embers Fire / Cousin Avi / Gregg Cave and the village hall band / Moonshine empire / The Marmalade Parade / Judy Mooch / Originals Project / Sal Paradise / The Structure / The Strides / Twelve Titans / To Bury a Ghost
Doors open 12:30pm and bands start from 1pm...
